In a meeting of the Bosnian football federation’s top officials, 61-year old Fuad Muzurovic was named the national team coach for the second time. After considering numerous candidates, among them Zlatko Kranjcar, Slobodan Santrac, and Ciro Blazevic, the FSBIH named Fuad Muzurovic, Mehmed Bazdarevic, and Dragoslav Stepanovic as the top 3 choices. Although most sources confirmed that Bazdarevic was the favorite, Muzurovic was selected to the same post he held from 1992 to 1998.
Tough Task Ahead
Muzurovic, who lead the Bosnian national team to 4 wins, one decision, and 8 losses during his tenure, will look to resurrect a team that has fallen on hard times in the last year. With their poor start to the Euro 2008 qualifying campaign and the players’ dissatisfaction with the football federation, Muzurovic faces a difficult situation. It remains to be seen whether the players will act on their vow to boycott the national team as long as the current leadership is still in place. Muzurovic signed a contract that will run to the end of the Euro 2008 qualifying campaign, with the possibility of an extension up to the beginning of the World Cup 2010 qualifiers. The new coach will have 3 full months to prepare his squad for the Euro 2008 qualifier with Norway on March 24 in Oslo.

Memory on late Mirza Delibasic brought together some of the greatest names in European basketball. They gathered in Sarajevo and played a friendly game. Around 4,000 spectators had an opportunity to see Damir Solman, Zdravko Cecur, Rodjeni Krvavac, Wayne Brabender, Villalobos who still is in great shape, Zoran Cutura, Juan Corbalan led Real Madrid veterans from the bench, just like Mirko Novosel, Rato Tvrdic, Dragan Kicanovic and Stojko Vrankovic did for the Mirza`s Friends` team.
It was impressive to see the oldest participant who played, Wayne Brabender at age of 61 drill a three-pointer and run the floor for good stretch during the game. Predrag Radan and Dragan Zovko seem to be in good shape leading their team. However, younger Mirza Delibasic`s son, Danko Delibasic overshadowed all stars scoring effortlessly 22 points.

If what can hardly be characterized as surprising news, Bosnia-Herzegovina national team selector Blaz Sliskovic has been fired after a disappointing start to the Euro 2008 qualifying campaign. The BiH football federation also fired U-21 selector Ibrahim Zukanovic.
Sliskovic Gone Again
The firing comes less than 2 months after Sliskovic decided to quit his post following the 3-1 loss to Hungary. This decision is hardly unexpected with the way the national team started their Euro 2008 qualifiers. Following an impressive win over Malta, Bosnia was embarrassed by Hungary and Greece and only managed a tie with Moldova. Although Sliskovic deserved his fate, the fact is he should not be made the scapegoat for Bosnia’s struggles. If the leaders of the BiH football federation do not take any responsibility and keep their posts, it is guaranteed they will replace Sliskovic with another one of their puppets. Many believe Sliskovic was ignored by the federation and he was made to follow their orders concerning the selection of players. Maybe now that he no longer has ties to the federation, Sliskovic will finally speak up about their ineptitude and corruption. To ensure a clean slate for next year, the whole federation must resign, from top to bottom, and not just the coach. Although the last year has been a struggle for Sliskovic, he should be commended for his achievements with the national team.

In response to some questionable calls last week, the BiH football federation suspended 5 referees indefinitely, including the two who called last week’s match-ups between Siroki Brijeg and Sarajevo and Zrinjski and Slavija. Although only time will tell if this decision will have any effect on the state of the league, it is certainly a step in the right direction.
Among the numerous interesting fixtures played this weekend, the most intriguing was the match-up between the last two champions of the Premier League, Zrinjski and Siroki Brijeg. In the last few years, these two teams of Herzegovina have established a new rivalry both on the pitch and off in their quest for the title and it has certainly added some interest to the Premier League. With both teams in the hunt for the title again, this one was sure to be a match to remember.

Zenica Celik is about to complete its roster for the upcoming season. Today Armin Avdibegovic, one of the most talented PG in the bosnian "Liga 12" extended his contract after Zenica announced to reach the play-offs.
Despite being only 21 years young Avdibegovic is a mature player who has excellent court vision and the ability to deliver "ready to score" assists. His athletic abilities and his ballhandling are further asssets who will raise some eyebrows if being granted with adequate playtime.
Marko Trbic announced that he is also interested in signing with young top prospects Kemal Avdic and Ramo Rizvic who splitted with Former Pivovarna Lasko.

By beating England 74:56 our U16 National team has earned the first spot on the standings of preliminary group D. Thus our players have qualified to the quarterfinals with 3 wins and no losses.
They will play in quarterfinal group F with Austria, Poland and Bulgaria. First game in the second round of the EC, our team plays on Tuesday, August 15th vs. Austria. In a game vs. England Nihad Djedovic dominated with 25 points, 13 rebounds and 7 steals. He is still the leading scorer of the tournament with 32.7 ppg. Second scorer has an average of 21.3 ppg. Dino Hodzic scored 14 points. Let`s hope that at this EC our team can earn one of two top spots that would move them to Division A of European competition.

Fans in Bihac had a chance to enjoy in a good basketball tonight. Our senior NT played a preparation game in Bihac recording an easy win over Hungary. Our players appeared to play well just enough to keep guests at a safe distance. Dunks by Teletovic, Jazvin and young Kikanovic brought the crowd on its feet. Tuljkovic, Bajramovic, Vasiljevic, Mrsic also played well. Our team played without Domercant who had scheduled his wedding in the USA and is supposed to join our team in a couple of days.
With or without Domercant our players at perimeter positions showed that we are deep team enough at those positions. Mrsic, Vasiljevic, Hukic, Kojadinovic are all quality players capable of playing major minutes for our team. It was nice to see 18-yrs old Elmedin Kikanovic play for the senior NT and proving that he belongs there. Kikanovic calmly sank two free throws, assisted Jazvin for an easy layup and had a tunderous dunk during his time on the court.

Sasa Vasiljevic one of the leading players of KK Bosna extended his contract. Although it seems a mission impossible to keep him in its rows Bosna managed to extend with this formidable PG. He will sign tomorrow. He currently prepares with Bosnian NT on Mount Vlasic.
A few weeks ago Bosna surprisingly signed Andrija Ciric of Cherkassy Monkeys. He is expected to strenghten on the SF position. There have been rumours which claimed Bosna tried to get Mujo Tuljkovic.
Bosna splits with Kovacevic
After two years Sinisa Kovacevic and Bosna decided to split. In the next days he will sign with his new team which is not known yet.
