Following almost a year-long break due to an injury, Bosna`s guard Suad Sehovic (195-G-87) is back to the basketball court. Sehovic became a fan favorite during the last season thanks to his never-give-up and brave approach to each game. He is still under impressions from a road game in Aleksandrovac where his team recorded maybe a key victory vs. Igokea.
Igokea. “This win might turn out to be the most important one for clinching the first spot for play offs, so we`ve got a good reason to celebrate. I`m especially happy for Mujo (Tuljkovic) who`s played probably his best game since his return to Bosna ASA BHTelecom. These days, there is a lot of pressure on players because we are playing for National championship and the only spot that leads to the Adriatic league in the next season. Bosna is the favorite and this fact combined with aforementioned ones reflects on our game. That`s why so many free throws, lay ups are being missed. I hope that after wins vs. Siroki and Igokea our team won't make similar mistakes in the following games beginning with tomorrow's game vs. Grude,” says Sehovic.
You`ve been out of basketball courts for a long period of time. Have you recovered from your knee injury?
True, I`ve been injured since last Spring. Now, I`m fully recovered and practice with my teammates. In order to shake the rust off I`ve played some games with our second team. Those games have helped me to get back in basketball shape and showed that I can play 40 minutes at full intensity. I feel healthy and am looking forward to help my team win the National championship.
Do you expect by the end of the play offs to regain your playing time from the previous season?
Frankly, no. As I already mentioned players and coaches are under tremendous pressure to win the championship this season. In such a situation I don`t expect us, younger players to play significant minutes.
Public doesn`t know much about you. It`s known that you`ve played for U16 selection of the former Serbia & Montenegro, been the best scorer in the U16 league. Few people know more details about you including your arrival to Bosna. How did you transfer from Montenegro to Bosna ASA BHTelecom?
I`ve played for Jedinstvo, Bijelo Polje. My coach and professor Sead Numanovic had sent a game tape to Fuad Muzurovic who forwarded it to Bosna management. I gladly accepted invitation from Bosna although there were more options at that time. I must say here that my coach Numanovic has helped me a lot contributing to my development as a player. He used to work with me individually. Senad Pecanin has helped in adaptation to a new city and both my brother and I are grateful for that.
Sead (200-G-89) is currently in the USA at camp held by LeBron James` personal coach. Have you talked with your brother about his impressions in the USA?
He is more than satisfied over there. Organization of the camp is at the highest level. Along with practicing Sead has played 12-13 games so far recording 32 points in one game. At others he`s also played well becoming one of the best players at the camp. He is supposed to return to Sarajevo in ten days.
Recently, you`ve accepted to play for Montenegro National team starting at the U20 EC this Summer. Of course, Bosnian fans who would like to see you play for Bosnia and Herzegovina were disappointed. What factors have influenced your decision to play for Montenegro in lieu of Bosnia and Herzegovina?
I`ve considered playing for Bosnian National team if invited, of course. However, taking into account my limited playing time in Bosna it`s questionable what my status in Bosnian NT would be, even if invited. I had no guarantees that I would get an opportunity to play for Bosnia and Herzegovina NT. On the other hand, I was born and raised in Bijelo Polje, Montenegro. I`ve accomplished my first basketball successes while playing over there. Montenegro National team coach, Radonjic and I had an honest conversation. He was clear that he seriously counts on me as one of the main players, not only in U20 team, but in a senior selection. Thus, I believe that I will have better chances of proving myself in international competitions by playing for Montenegro than Bosnia and Herzegovina. Like all players I strive towards full sports affirmation and I think that I have made the right choice in this case.
