The regular annual General Assembly of Sidro, held on Wednesday in Split, brought some significant changes regarding the competition system in Goodyear League and the managing structure of the company. One of them is the decision that the Final Tournament, played so far, will be replaced by the play-off in which four best teams from the regular season will be participating.
After the financial report for the previous season was accepted and confirmed the General Assembly backed the proposal to introduce the play-off already for 2006/07 season and that teams will be competing in the best-of-three series. The schedule for the upcoming season, which starts with the first round on September 30th, was also confirmed.
Roman Lisac, the executive director of Goodyear League, was named the new general director of Sidro while Mirsad Milovic was confirmed as the president of General Assembley of Sidro also for the next two years.
Another change was backed by the general Assembley also regarding the ownership structure of Sidro. Namely Buducnost decided to split its share on three parts, giving a fair share also to Crvena zvezda and Partizan, but the change will be officially held in September. The ownership structure is currently as followed: Union Olimpija has 20 %, Bosna 20 %, Buducnost 20 %, Cibona, Zadar and Split are sharing another 20 % while the rest of them are split among three individuals who will be joined with three more in the future.
The General Assembly also faced the proposal how the national structure in 2007/08 season is supposed to look and backed the proposal. According to the latter Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia should have two clubs in the league each, Bosnia and Herzegovina will have one representative, Rabotnicki from Macedonia and Buducnost from Montenegro will be given wild-cards. Other places should be filled as follows: the country with the best coefficient between victories and defeats in 2006/07 will be given two additional places, countries with the second and third best coefficient between victories and defeats in 2006/07 will be given one additional place while the country with the best coefficient between victories and defeats in the sum of 2006/07 and 2007/08 will be given one additional place.
